LOCATION

  • Kamisu City, where South Kashima Power Plant Inc. is located, is situated in the southeast part of Ibaraki Prefecture. The nearby Kashima Coastal Industrial Zone has been established around Kashima Port, which offers Ibaraki Prefecture’s large industrial estate for steel, power and petroleum-based chemicals, etc. The city is also known for its bell peppers, senryo (sarcandra glabra) and other such souvenirs, and it is also very proud of its eminent fish catches. Located within 100km of metropolitan Tokyo, it is only 30km away from Narita Airport, which makes it an area with enormous potential for further growth in the future.

    From Tokyo: Use the express bus from Tokyo Station and alight at the Kashima Central Hotel (approximately 90 minutes).

    Express buses depart from the Yaesu South Exit of Tokyo Station once every ten minutes.
    If traveling by train, it is approximately 25 minutes by taxi from Omigawa Station on the JR Narita Line,
    and if traveling by car,
    it is approximately 30 minutes from the Itako Interchange on the Higashi-Kanto Expressway.

Sightseeing Spots

Kashima Port can be seen on the right-hand side and left-hand side from the observation deck in Harbor Park, and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Kashima Coastal Industrial Zone can be seen beyond that. A pretty beach with a gently sloping bottom is available in the Hazaki district. There are many points in the surrounding area that are perfect for surfing and bodyboarding. A camping site can also be enjoyed. A wide variety of events are also held, including the Ibaraki Hazaki SURFING GAMES and the Kirasse Festival. The Kashima Stadium is also located in neighboring Kashima, where soccer matches can be enjoyed.

    The area is quiet, warm and clement, with minimal temperature differences between the seasons. Parks and public facilities are being newly built, which are available for use by all citizens from small children through to the elderly. The city hall has a problem consultation counter where it is possible to seek advice for minor daily problems.

Kamisu City also provides full support during child birth and child-raising, including a system in which education costs are exempt for families with three or more children, a support system in which birthing mothers are presented with \20,000 per child, and a system that subsidizes the costs involved in influenza vaccinations. Medical fees for children up to junior high school age are also free of charge, creating an environment in which children can be reared without anxiety.

    The city has many leisure spots centered around the ocean. A wide variety of sports can be enjoyed in these spots throughout the year owing to the warm climate. There are also a total of 100 private and public soccer grounds available, and people visit from all over the country to practice here. There is a running and jogging course 900-meters in length that circles the Kamisu General Park. The course is paved in urethane resin, which is gentle on the legs, so that as people can enjoy walking and jogging without concern.

    Sightseeing Spots in the Area
    Sotonasaka-ura is located in the northern part of Kamisu City and contains an observation deck 52 meters in height, a seaside park, and a pond that beautifully reflects the setting sun. The central part faces in the Pacific Ocean, and this area contain windmills that stand sentinel along the coastal route, the coast of Nikkawahama with its wide beaches, and the Umikaze-no-Mieru-Oka hill. The 1,000 Painters Aozora Gallery, which extends for a total length of 6km, is a must-see spot. The 1.1km Kahan Promenade for walking is also a popular spot in the southern part of the city.
